Hello!

Long time, no "speak" blogworld!

Owen is insanely smart, in my humble opinion. :) Here are some of the things he is doing these days:

~ if you tell him to throw something in the trash, he takes it to the trash and puts it in!
~ if you ask him "where is Owen Parker?", he points to himself
~ he can point out his belly button, nose, eyes, and ears. we are working on mouth and knees.
~ new words: car, cat, yeah, hubba bubba (Travis taught him that one, and YES, he says the entire thing and thinks it is great), fraw (strawberry - this either refers to his strawberry milk or an actual strawberry), tu (the number 2), lie (light), lo (lotion)
~ he recognizes the number 2. I have no idea why, but he does. We were at the doctors office the other day and were near the bank of elevators. We were on the second floor so every elevator had a "2" on it. He kept pointing to it and saying "Tu! Tu!"
~ he realizes that a cow is black and white, and it says "moo". He calls a cow a "moo". So, logically, when he sees a zebra he says "moo" because it is black and white. I think that is a smart connection, but we are still working on the difference between and cow and a zebra.

Here are some photos. We went to the Austin zoo the other day. It isn't very good, but Owen still enjoyed the animals.

Owen is the LOVINGEST kid. He loves giving hugs and kisses. Here he is loving on his cousin Will.

And here are just some random pics.

He climbed up onto the table.

I think it is so funny how he looks so sassy from the back in this one.

He loves sitting on the rug in the kitchen for some reason.

He LOVES Elmo. He has several Elmo books, and this little couch. He says "Emo" ALL day.

My Favorite Movies Growing Up (I think I am weird)

Alright, so I was doing some of those "Top Five" things on Facebook, and one of them was "movies you grew up on". I had to do it twice just to cover the movies I watched literally hundreds of times. I decided just to do a blog post about it instead of filling out another few of the Facebook things.

So, here it is. The movies I watched growing up. I PROMISE I WAS BORN IN 1980.

ELVIS - yes, I LOVED Elvis when I was younger. I still do, but not nearly as much as I did when I was a pre-teen. I had all of his movies, and I watched them over and over. So he gets a category all his own. Here are the Elvis movies I watched. I am sure there are more than I am listing here, but these are the ones I remember.

Blue Hawaii
Fun in Acapulco
G.I. Blues
Girls! Girls! Girls!
Viva Las Vegas
Jailhouse Rock

FRANKIE AVALON - He gets his own category too. I watched these movies so many times the Blockbuster and Hollywood video down the street knew my name. (just kidding)

Beach Party
Bikini Beach
Beach Blanket Bingo
(I still know the theme song to this one! Eek!)
Grease
(shame on you if you don't remember Frankie in this one)

Did you catch that all of the movies above are musicals? Yeah, I had a thing for musicals. I'll just go ahead and list the other musical movies I liked as a kid here:

Sound of Music

Gidget

Tammy and the Bachelor
(I know she sings at least one song in this, so I am counting it)

Newsies

Gigi

West Side Story

And here are just some of the random movies I loved.

All I Want for Christmas

Shag

Where the Boys Are

Mom, what am I forgetting?

And of course no post is complete without a picture of Owen. So, here you go.

Not me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This week, I did not let my son play with a box of tampons to entertain himself while i used the restroom. Even if I did have to pee (pardon my french) so bad, I would never do that!

I also certainly did not let my son drink soda at a restaurant because it kept him somewhat happy and quiet. I would never do that.

I definitely do not let my son listen to Lady Gaga's Poker Face because when he dances to it it is so hilarious. Not me!

I did not smother mixed veggies in butter for my in-need-of-many-calories son. And I definitely did not eat all those veggies myself when he refused to eat them. And I surely didn't let him just eat "a few of his favorite things" for lunch because I was too tired to deal with pulling out many things to see what he was in the mood to eat. I did not let him eat 6 large strawberries, an applesauce and some yogurt melts - by the fistful - because that is what he wanted to eat. I didn't feel like a terrible mother when he threw up ridiculous amounts all over his high chair after consuming said food items.

I did not let my son run around shirtless because i had to take his shirt off because it smelled like vomit and I was too lazy to put a clean one on him.

I am not enjoying snuggles and kisses from a shirtless boy.

Another post?? Yes!! I am trying.

Alright, so I am slacking big time on my blogging. I know this. I will try to do better.

Owen is SO MUCH FUN!! He is such a little person with a great and funny personality. He talks continuously, even if the words make no sense to the adults, you can be sure that he knows exactly what he is saying. He has inflection and expressions and everything. It is hilarious.

He is becoming a big boy. He can really communicate now (only in so many words...) and he talks to us and plays with us. One of our bedrooms is the playroom, or toy room, or back room...whatever we call it at that moment. When you say "Owen, do you want to go to the play room?" (or one of the other terms for that room) he lights up and RUNS to the door of that room. He LOVES that room. He can spend hours and hours just playing with toys and reading books. Sometimes he will just run back to that room and tap on the door to let us know he would like to play in there.

Also, he will let us know when he is ready to eat. Sometimes he will say "eee, eee, eee!" (eat, eat, eat) or he will run over to the high chair and grab on to it. If you say "Owen do you want to get in your high chair?", if he is hungry, he will RUN over to it and hang on until you put him in it.

The other day I was showing him a picture of himself. I kept saying "that's you! that's owen!" and pointing to him. I showed it to him again and he smiled and pointed at himself. It was cute. He really enjoys looking at all of our family pictures.

When he reads books he will point to something and say "was at?" (what's that?). He was pointing to Elmo when he asked that the other day, and I said "That's Elmo!" And Owen said "amo!"

He has a toy that sings the "ABC" song. He was trying to sing along the other day. I think he is going to be a pretty musical kid. He just LOVES music, and he LOVES to dance.

OH!! And his 4th tooth is poking out!!

Ok...now on to the pictures!!

Thursday at school was Easter Egg Hunt day! Yes, that is a Spider Man Easter Basket. Don't you know us by now?? The picture of me and Owen isn't the greatest, but I like it.

These are some pictures from Thursday. Owen was playing while I was making dinner. He came into the kitchen and was dying to help me, so I gave his a rubber scraper and a bowl and he went to town.

These next two pictures are of yesterday, after Owen woke up from his 3 hour nap. He's been feeling sort of puny (he and Travis both had a fever of over 101! FUN!!) The hair says it all!!

And today! This kid is CRAZY for strawberries!!
